False Starts
worth another try
The first page, the first line, of a twenty-year-old journal I found:
This is the beginning of my attempt to be a writer.
The journal went on for another ten pages, a lot of stream of consciousness stuff, similar to Morning Pages. Then a page that starts, “Okay, it’s been over a year since I wrote last.” Interesting though, in that year-long gap, I got married and moved from California to Oklahoma for a semester of law school, then to Dallas. Life happens, I suppose. There wasn’t another entry until today.
Now I’m writing again.

That’s pretty cool. Love finding old journals and musings that I started throughout adolescence, young adulthood and you g parenthood. I could never stick with them but it feels so good to start. Cheers to you for picking the pen up again.
